DESCRIPTION: The Studio Lighting Workshop is an all day, in-studio workshop where you will learn how to setup a home studio with your external flash attachment. You will receive a hands-on experience setting up light stands, backgrounds, booms, softboxes, snoots, gels and wireless flash triggers. Studio lighting equipment will be discussed and multiple basic lighting plots will be demonstrated. Through these lighting demonstrations you will learn the role each light plays in the studio and how to manually manipulate your camera, flash and a hand-held light meter for full artistic lighting control. Once we have set up and discussed the equipment, each student will take turns photographing multiple light plots. We will then take a 1 hour lunch break. The second portion of the class builds upon the knowledge gained in the first portion of the class. Here we will expand our creative knowledge by exploring the artistic and creative nature of light with advanced lighting configurations or “plots” and begin. You will also learn the functionality of different light modifiers and how to manipulate them for particular artistic lighting effects. The purpose of this workshop is to fill your stylistic arsenal with creative studio lighting knowledge so you can become a master of light.

Topics Covered: Studio lighting equipment, 4-light studio plot, Backgrounds, Studio camera settings, Subject posing, Lighting effects, Measuring light & handheld meters, Softboxes, beauty dish, grids, snoots, scrims, modifiers, creative lighting plots

  1. Good Morning, I was checking to make sure the class was still going to be held. Normally there are some downloadable notes that you send out but I have not received any correspondence about the class.
