DESCRIPTION: This is an all-day dynamic workshop that will show you the necessary skills and techniques for beautiful outdoor portraits. Advance your skills to the level of a professional portrait photographer. The day begins with 3 hours of classroom education. Here you will learn to adapt your photography knowledge for deeper understanding of exposure, light styling, wireless flash and posing for dynamic outdoor portrait photography. After a 1-hour lunch break we will walk over to the Buffalo Bayou Park (a 5 minute walk) for a 2-hour hands-on photo shoot. This will be your opportunity to put your new found knowledge to work. Your instructor and instructing assistant will be by your side to ensure you feel comfortable with your equipment, settings, lighting and posing.  At the end of the day, the instructor will retrieve the pictures you have taken so that your images may be donated to the models.

Plan B Workshop Date: If our original Workshop date is cancelled due to bad weather, you will receive notification at least 24 hours prior. In this case the Portrait Workshop will be rescheduled for our ‘Plan B Workshop Date’ which is the following Saturday. Therefore, when you register for this workshop you must ensure that you are available for the Original Workshop date as well as the ‘Plan B Date’ in case we get rained out. In the event that both dates are rained out then we will contact all participants to offer a refund or the option of a ‘Plan C Date’.

Topics Covered: Depth of field, lenses & focal length, natural lighting & metering, wireless flash, lighting techniques, reflectors, diffusers, subject posing & wardrobe, selecting shooting locations

  1. Can’t find the class notes to download for the outdoor workshop

    1. Hello Tom, I emailed the notes to everyone. Please let me know if you did not receive them

  2. Hi Lana, if I don’t have telephoto lens and external flash I can’t join, right?

    1. I highly recommend having a telephoto lens that can zoom above 50mm for this workshop. Otherwise, you can use a 50mm lens, but it is not optimal. We will learn about flash and use flash in this workshop but you don’t need to have a flash with you, because you will take pictures with my flash equipment in the end.

  3. For student members, you receive 50% off Excursions and any lectures we hold throughout the year. There are no discounts on any Workshops. Here is a link where you can view membership benefits: https://everydayphotoclass.com/membership/

  4. Lana, are both workshops and excursions 1/2 price? If so, how do i become a club member?

    Thanks for your help.
