Suggest Equipment (* Required): *Camera, *Macro Lens (Optimal) or 50mm lens, *Charged Battery, *Memory Card, Printout of Downloadable Notes, Pen & Paper.

DESCRIPTION: This is a one day 3-hour workshop that teaches you to overcome the difficulties associated with Macro Photography. We will start in the classroom for a 1 hour discussion on your approach to close-up photography. Here you will learn camera techniques to produce stunning macro images of the most delicate and precious elements of flowers, insects, jewelry and water droplets. You will also understand how to produce beautiful lighting and avoid some classic problems in the world of macro photography. After a short demonstration of the techniques you will be performing, you will each rotate stations to give you exposure to the different challenges we have provided you.

Topics Covered: Macro equipment, depth of field, critical focusing, lenses & focal length, natural lighting & metering, using flash and reflectors, positioning your camera, water droplet reflections, hands-on photo shoot

  2. I will start my first class with you just before this class. Is your flash attachment recommended for the macro practice? What about a tripod? Where is this going to be at? Looking forward to this!!

    1. I recommend bringing your tripod, and a macro lens if you own one. If you do not own a macro lens then you can instead bring a 50mm lens. I will have a Nikon macro lens that I allows students to test out in class as well. A flash is not necessary for this workshop.
