DESCRIPTION: The Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science is a perfect venue to test your skills for insect photography. This is also a great place to practice your metering and Aperture Priority skills. If you have a Macro lens this will be your best friend for capturing the most detailed shots of the butterflies. A 50mm lens also works very well for pictures of butterflies. A monopod is not necessary but can be helpful in stabilizing your camera with easy mobility. Dress in layers!! Even if it is cold outside, the conditions inside the terrarium are hot and humid. You will need to pay your entrance to the Butterfly Center. There is a paid parking garage available in case you cannot find free parking in the area. We will meet in the museum lobby in front of the butterfly center entrance. Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can discuss camera settings before entering the terrarium.
